Cherokee Nation Businesses has been notified by the Department of Defense that CNB will be awarded its largest ever federal contract, worth more than $40 million over two years. When awarded, CNB’s security and defense group will sustain and service military hardware for the United States Department of Defense.
Under the contract, CNB will provide logistics services to support military hardware. CNB will be hiring 10 to 20 engineers, program managers, program analysts and technicians to work on the contract, which will be executed both inside the Cherokee Nation’s 14-county jurisdiction as well as at undisclosed DOD sites.
“We’re going to do as much of the work on the contract as we can in northeastern Oklahoma, creating well-paying local jobs,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Businesses. “To effectively execute the contract, we’ll also need an on-site presence at the DOD location in order to better support our customer and to open the door to future strategic acquisitions.”
Through its various subsidiaries, CNB has a long standing presence in the security and defense sector, but it recently established a deeper foothold in the industry by providing added value and performance to its clients. All the capabilities of CNB’s business units will be aligned to provide service under this contract. In particular, Cherokee Nation Industries in Stillwell, Okla., has a 40 year history of providing high quality service and products, delivering on time and under budget. Recently recognized with Boeing’s Gold Status rating, CNI will be a major factor in the Cherokee Nation’s ability to self-perform much of this contract.
